The RTC Spin Doctor Tile Lippage Control System cap is the reusable red screw-down leveling cap, supplied 100 per box, that clamps two adjacent tiles flush on a Spin Doctor breakaway post.

The cap is the reusable half of the system: it threads onto the post's stem and is spun down by hand until both tiles are clamped flat, then comes off after the mortar cures when the post stem breaks away at the base. RTC's own wording is that it spins down to the tile surface in seconds, which is the difference between this and a wedge-and-clip system.

Key Features

  • Reusable — recovered after each pour and used again, unlike the disposable post
  • Spins down by hand: no pliers, no wedges, no tensioning tool
  • Threads onto the stem of a breakaway post and clamps both tiles against the cap face
  • Red, RTC's color for the leveling cap
  • 100 caps per box

What's Included

  • 100 reusable red leveling caps
  • Breakaway posts and Clear View Shields are not included and are ordered separately

Who Is This For?

Any crew running the Spin Doctor system: the caps are the part you keep, so one box covers many jobs while the posts are consumed. Buy the post size that matches the grout joint.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the cap scuff a polished tile as it tightens?

That is what the Anti-Friction Clear View Shield is for: a clear washer that sits between the cap and the tile face so the cap can spin without binding or marring a polished surface, and lets the installer see the tile edge while tightening. On polished or delicate tile, order the shields with the caps.

Are caps enough on their own?

No. Caps thread onto breakaway posts, which are bought separately by joint width — for example the 1/16 in. white post, 250 per box. Nothing clamps without both parts.

How many caps do I need relative to posts?

Fewer, because caps are recovered and reused while posts are consumed. A 100-cap box works against a 250-piece post box across repeated pours.
