The Zenesis Obsidian Core Bit is a 1-3/8 in. wet-or-dry diamond core bit with patterned diamond segments for drilling clean holes in quartzite, porcelain, granite, marble, ceramic, engineered stone and Dekton on an angle grinder or polisher.

Obsidian is the name of Zenesis's own premium line; the segments use the Zenesis pattern-set diamond arrangement rather than random diamond placement, which Zenesis states gives up to 70% longer life. Brazed diamond on the outside and inside of the barrel keeps the bit from binding in the hole and lets the plug come out. Zenesis positions this as its bit for the hardest material, quartzite included. If every hole is drilled wet and porcelain chipping is the main worry, the Zenesis Z-Thin Wall Core Bit has a continuous thin rim built for that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can this bit be used dry?

Yes. Zenesis rates the Obsidian line for dry and wet use. Water still extends segment life and keeps dust down, so use it where you can.

Will it drill quartzite?

Yes. Quartzite is one of the materials Zenesis publishes for this line, alongside porcelain, granite, marble, ceramic, engineered stone and Dekton.

What thread does it have?

5/8 in.-11, so it fits standard angle grinders and stone polishers without an adapter.

What are the lines on the barrel?

Depth gauges at 20 mm and 30 mm, so you can see how far you are into a 2 cm or 3 cm slab without stopping.

Is this an Obsidian Industrial product?

No. Obsidian is Zenesis's own product-line name for this core bit and its matching bridge saw blade; the bit is made by Zenesis and sold here by Obsidian Industrial.
