ASI 174 Siliconized Acrylic Latex Caulk – 10.2 oz. Cartridge, Clear
The ASI 174 Siliconized Acrylic Latex Caulk is a paintable, siliconized acrylic latex sealant in a clear 10.2 oz. caulking cartridge, used for sealing interior and exterior joints.
Key Features
- Paintable: American Sealants describes ASI 174 as a high performance, paintable sealant, so the bead can be finished over rather than left exposed.
- Siliconized acrylic latex chemistry, not a silicone rubber. It tools and cleans up as a latex caulk.
- Published by the manufacturer for both interior and exterior joints.
- 10.2 oz. caulking cartridge, the standard cartridge size for a common trade caulking gun. Sold 24 per case.
- Clear is one of only two colors American Sealants publishes for this product; the other is white.
Who Is This For?
Tile setters, countertop installers and finish carpenters sealing perimeter joints, backsplash lines, trim and casework that will be painted afterwards. It is the caulk to reach for when the joint is a decorative or weather joint on a painted wall rather than a moving joint that has to stay rubbery.
What This Is Not For
A latex caulk is the wrong choice where the joint needs a cured silicone rubber, such as a sink or shower joint that stays wet and moves. Use the ASI 502 100% RTV Silicone Caulk in clear for that. American Sealants publishes no substrate list, no cure schedule and no submersion claim for ASI 174, so do not treat it as a wet-area silicone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can this caulk be painted?
Yes. American Sealants publishes ASI 174 Siliconized Acrylic Latex as a high performance, paintable sealant.
What size cartridge is it and what gun does it fit?
ASI 174 ships in a 10.2 oz. caulking cartridge, which loads into an ordinary cartridge caulking gun. American Sealants sells it 24 cartridges per case.
What colors does it come in?
American Sealants publishes ASI 174 Siliconized Acrylic Latex in two colors only, white and clear. This item is the clear.
How long does it take to cure?
American Sealants does not publish a tack-free or full-cure time for ASI 174 in the sources on file. As a water-based latex caulk it skins and cures by evaporation, so cure depends on joint depth, temperature and ventilation. Follow the cartridge label.
Is it a silicone?
No. ASI 174 is a siliconized acrylic latex, meaning a latex caulk with a silicone additive. It is not a 100% silicone and should not be substituted for one where a silicone rubber joint is specified.
