APEXX Purple Finger Bit – 23 x 50 mm, 5-Segment, Cobalt Bond, for Quartz
The APEXX Purple Finger Bit is a 23 mm x 50 mm five-segment CNC finger bit with a cobalt bond, built for quartz. Ocean Diamond specifies wet use only and publishes the purple cobalt bond as its long-life bond. On the CNC finger bits the color codes the BOND, and the bond determines the material: red is a soft bond, purple a cobalt long-life bond, orange a high-speed bond, blue an extra-soft bond, dark blue a heat-durable bond and white a super-soft bond.
This is the quartz bond. Quartzite needs a different finger bit — Ocean Diamond builds a BLUE extra-soft bond and a DARK BLUE heat-durable bond for quartzite, and a WHITE super-soft bond for ultra-compact, all under separate item numbers that Obsidian Industrial does not currently stock. Note that blue means something else entirely on the APEXX incremental cutting tips, where it is the engineered stone and granite tip: never carry one family's color key onto another.
Key Features
- 23 mm x 50 mm
- Five segments
- Cobalt bond, long life
- Wet use only
- Ocean Diamond material for this bond: engineered stone (quartz)
- Finger-bit color key codes the BOND: red soft, purple cobalt long-life, orange high speed, blue extra-soft, dark blue heat-durable, white super-soft
Who Is This For?
CNC shops cutting and shaping quartz sink openings and internal radii, where bond life across a production run matters more than raw speed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What material is this finger bit for?
Quartz. Ocean Diamond publishes the purple cobalt bond for engineered stone, described as long life.
Can I use it on quartzite?
Ocean Diamond builds separate quartzite finger bits — a blue extra-soft bond and a dark blue heat-durable bond. The purple cobalt bond is published for engineered stone.
What does the color mean on a finger bit?
It codes the bond. Ocean Diamond publishes red as a soft bond, purple as a cobalt long-life bond, orange as a high-speed bond, blue as an extra-soft bond, dark blue as a heat-durable bond and white as a super-soft bond. This key applies to finger bits only.
How many segments does it have?
Five, over a 23 mm x 50 mm body.
Does it need water?
Yes. Ocean Diamond specifies wet use only.
