3M Stikit Disc Pad 70234 – 5 in. x 1/2 in., 5/8 in.-11 Thread, Medium Density, PSA
The 3M Stikit Disc Pad 70234 is a 5 in. diameter, 1/2 in. thick medium-density backer pad with a 5/8 in.-11 internal thread that holds 3M Stikit pressure-sensitive-adhesive (PSA) sanding discs on rotary sanders and polishers.
It is a PSA-only pad: the tough vinyl face grips the adhesive back of a Stikit disc yet lets the spent disc peel off cleanly. It will not hold hook-and-loop discs; for those use the 3M Hookit Low Profile Disc Pad 20352 or a 5 in. hook-and-loop backer pad.

Fitment
Any tool with a 5/8 in.-11 male spindle: variable-speed wet stone polishers, right-angle grinders and rotary sanders. Use only with 5 in. PSA-backed discs such as 3M Stikit paper, film and cloth discs.
What This Is Not For
Not for hook-and-loop (Hookit or Velcro-type) discs, which have nothing to bond to on a vinyl face. Not for random-orbital sanders with a 5/16 in.-24 stud; those take the 3M Hookit Low Profile Disc Pad 20352 or a Stikit pad with a 5/16 in.-24 external thread.
Who Is This For?
Stone fabricators and solid-surface shops running 5 in. PSA sanding discs on a 5/8 in.-11 polisher or grinder, and anyone replacing a worn Stikit pad on an existing tool.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a Stikit pad and a Hookit pad?
Stikit pads have a smooth vinyl face for pressure-sensitive-adhesive (PSA) discs. Hookit pads have a hook face for hook-and-loop discs. The two disc types are not interchangeable, so match the pad to the discs you buy.
What thread does the 70234 have?
A 5/8 in.-11 internal (female) thread, the standard spindle on stone polishers and 4-1/2 to 7 in. angle grinders. It does not fit the 5/16 in.-24 stud on most random-orbital sanders.
What is the maximum speed?
3M rates the 70234 at 12,000 RPM maximum. Check that your tool's no-load speed is at or below this figure.
Is the price for one pad or a case?
One pad. 3M ships the 70234 five per case; Obsidian Industrial sells them individually.
Can it be used wet?
The vinyl face and molded body tolerate the water spray of a wet polisher, but the adhesive on a PSA disc holds best when the pad face is dry and clean at the moment of mounting.
