The 3M Hookit Low Profile Disc Pad 20352 is a 5 in. diameter, 3/8 in. thick firm-density hook-and-loop backer pad with a 5/16 in.-24 external stud that mounts on random-orbital and dual-action sanders and holds 3M Hookit sanding discs.

Its low-profile firm foam and 35-degree tapered edge are made for aggressive flat sanding. It is not a stone-polisher pad: the 5/16 in.-24 stud does not fit a 5/8 in.-11 spindle. For a 5 in. PSA pad on a polisher or angle grinder use the 3M Stikit Disc Pad 70234.

Key Features

  • 5 in. (127 mm) diameter, 3/8 in. (9.4 mm) low-profile firm foam, 35-degree tapered edge
  • 5/16 in.-24 external (male) stud, the standard fitting on 5 in. random-orbital and dual-action sanders
  • Hook face holds any 5 in. hook-and-loop disc, including 3M Hookit and Xtract Cubitron II film discs
  • One-piece threaded shank reduces vibration and improves balance
  • Maximum operating speed 12,000 RPM; net weight about 0.28 lb (127 g)
  • 3M ID 7100026249; sold individually here (3M packs 10 per case)

Fitment

5 in. random-orbital, dual-action and finishing sanders with a 5/16 in.-24 female spindle. Pairs with the 3M Xtract Cubitron II Film Disc 775L and other 5 in. hook-and-loop sanding discs sold in this catalogue. Non-vacuum (no dust holes).

What This Is Not For

Not for 5/8 in.-11 stone polishers or angle grinders, and not for PSA (adhesive-back) discs, which have nothing to grip on a hook face. Use the 3M Stikit Disc Pad 70234 for PSA discs on a 5/8 in.-11 tool, or a Diamax or Mustang hook-and-loop backer pad for diamond polishing pads on a wet polisher.

Who Is This For?

Solid-surface, laminate and stone shops sanding flat with a 5 in. random-orbital sander and hook-and-loop discs, and anyone replacing a worn or torn hook pad on that sander.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit my wet stone polisher?

No. The 20352 has a 5/16 in.-24 male stud for random-orbital sanders. Stone polishers and angle grinders take a 5/8 in.-11 pad such as the 3M Stikit Disc Pad 70234 (PSA) or a 5/8 in.-11 hook-and-loop backer pad.

What is 'low profile' and 'firm'?

Low profile means the foam is only 3/8 in. thick, keeping the disc close to the tool for control. Firm density foam resists conforming, which flattens work rather than following it; 3M recommends it for aggressive flat sanding.

Does it have dust-extraction holes?

No. The 20352 is a solid pad. If your sander and discs use vacuum holes, choose a 3M Hookit multi-hole or Clean Sanding pad instead (not currently stocked here).

What is the maximum RPM?

12,000 RPM per 3M's spec table. Most 5 in. random-orbital sanders run well under this.

How many pads do I get?

One. 3M sells the 20352 ten per case; Obsidian Industrial sells it as a single pad.
