The Silco Sil-Bond RTV-3500 Silicone Sealant in white is a one-component acetoxy cure silicone in a 10.3 oz. cartridge, published by Silco as mildew resistant, and is the opaque white rather than the translucent trans white.

Key Features

  • Opaque white, a published Silco standard color for this line. It is a different color from trans white, which is translucent.
  • Acetoxy cure, published on Silco's own data sheet and through its Acetoxy Cure product category.
  • Published as mildew resistant, UV stable, non-yellowing, non-shrinking and waterproof, with excellent weatherability and adhesion.
  • Silco publishes adhesion to metal, steel, tile, fiberglass, ceramic, glass, aluminum, painted surfaces, wood, plywood and marble among other common substrates.
  • 10.3 oz. cartridge for a standard cartridge caulking gun.

Who Is This For?

Tile setters, plumbers and maintenance crews sealing white sinks, tubs, tile and fixture joints in wet rooms, where a covering white bead and a published mildew-resistance claim are what the job calls for.

What This Is Not For

White is the wrong color where the bead should disappear into a veined or dark surface; the trans white in this same line is translucent and reads as a tint. Silco publishes no paintable claim for this silicone either, so a painted joint calls for the Silco Eco-Flex 9500 Hybrid Adhesive Sealant, which Silco does publish as paintable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the opaque white or the translucent one?

This is the opaque white. Silco publishes white and trans white as two different colors for Sil-Bond RTV-3500; trans white is translucent and lets the substrate show through.

Is it mildew resistant?

Yes. Silco lists Sil-Bond 3500 as a mildew resistant sealant and heads its data sheet Sil-Bond RTV-3500 (Acetoxy) Mildew Resistant.

What is the cure chemistry?

Silco publishes Sil-Bond RTV-3500 as an acetoxy cure silicone, an acid cure that releases acetic acid while the bead sets.

Does it work on marble?

Silco lists marble among the substrates for Sil-Bond RTV-3500 and publishes no stone warning for the line. It publishes no non-staining claim either, so on a porous or light stone, test on an offcut before running the joint.
