The Alpha Diamond Hand Polishing Pad is a hand-held diamond pad for on-site polishing and touch-up, supplied across a 60 to 3000 grit range in two different bonds. Alpha builds 60, 150, 300 and 500 grit as electroplated pads, where nickel plating holds each diamond in place, and 1000, 2000 and 3000 grit as resin pads on a backing material, with a finer diamond grit for honing through to polishing.
The bond changes with the grit, so the coarse and fine pads are not the same tool. If you are honing or polishing rather than cutting, order the resin grits, 1000 to 3000; the electroplated grits, 60 to 500, are for stock removal and shaping.
