The ELEMENT Dry/Wet Core Bit is a 2-1/4 in. T-segment core bit for drilling through-holes in slab, on a 5/8 in.-11 thread, supplied with brazed diamond side protection inside and outside the barrel. Ocean Diamond specifies wet use only on engineered stone and quartz, and dry or wet use on other materials; the 2-1/4 in. size is rated to a 4,000 RPM maximum, lower than the 6,500 RPM of the 2 in. and smaller bits. It is a heat-resistant metal-bond bit whose T-shaped segments are designed to stop segments coming off under dry use.
Engineered stone and quartz are wet-only on this bit whatever the line name says — the dry-or-wet instruction applies to granite and quartzite. Side protection is not universal across the family: the 2-1/4 in. bit has it, while the neighbouring 2-3/8 in. and 2-1/2 in. bits do not.
