The ELEMENT Dry/Wet Core Bit is a 1-3/8 in. T-segment core bit for drilling through-holes in slab, on a 5/8 in.-11 thread, supplied with diamond side protection. Ocean Diamond specifies wet use only on engineered stone and quartz, and dry or wet use on other materials. Side protection is not universal across this family — Ocean Diamond builds the 1-1/4 in. and 1-3/8 in. bits with it and the 1 in. and 3-1/2 in. bits without it.

Engineered stone and quartz are wet-only on this bit whatever the line name says — the dry-or-wet instruction applies to the other materials. For ultra-compact and Dekton, use the APEXX Ultra-Compact & Dekton Thin-Wall Core Bit; for marble and porcelain, the APEXX Vacuum Brazed Marble & Porcelain Core Bit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What diameter is it?

Can it be used dry on quartz?

No. Ocean Diamond specifies wet use only on engineered stone and quartz. Dry or wet use applies to the other materials.

Does this bit have side protection?

Yes. Ocean Diamond builds the 1-3/8 in. bit with diamond side protection along the barrel.

What does side protection do?

Diamond along the barrel keeps the bit cutting cleanly if it rubs the side of the hole, rather than wearing the steel.

Which materials is it for?

Ocean Diamond lists engineered stone, granite and natural quartzite such as Taj Mahal.
