Grit

The WEHA Donkey Quartz Surface Polishing Pad is a 4 in. 1000 grit wet pad for repairing and blending the face of a quartz surface, run at 800-1,200 RPM. It is a surface pad, used flat on a top to blend a repair back into the surrounding finish rather than to polish an edge.

The pad uses a diamond sponge construction that holds a large volume of water, which is what makes it workable inside a finished home where water is limited. Soak it for at least 20 minutes before the first use.

Key Features

  • 4 in. surface pad at 1000 grit
  • Run wet at 800-1,200 RPM; slower is better
  • Diamond sponge body holds water for low-water in-home repair work
  • Soak at least 20 minutes before first use
  • Part of Weha's Donkey grit ladder: 120, 220, 600, 1000, 2000, 3000, 6000 and 10000

Who Is This For?

Repair technicians and installers blending scratch repairs and seam work back into a quartz surface on site. It is not an edge tool: for polishing a flat edge or a bevel, use the WEHA Turbo Polishing Disc series on the 3.5 in. backup pad (WEH 51080), and for a full three-step wet edge polish use a 3-step set such as the WEHA 3 Step Hybrid pads.

Frequently Asked Questions

What grit is this pad?

This WEHA Donkey pad is 1000 grit. The fixed product title does not carry the grit, but Weha's own product page titles it as the 4 in. 1000 grit Donkey pad.

What speed should it run at?

Weha specifies 800-1,200 RPM for the Donkey pads, and 1,200 RPM should be treated as the ceiling.

Does it need to be soaked?

Yes. The Donkey pad is a diamond sponge pad and should be soaked in water for at least 20 minutes before it is first used.

Is this the same product as the 10000 grit Donkey pad?

It is the same Weha Donkey line at a different grit. WEH 134293 is 1000 grit and WEH 134297 is 10000 grit; they are sequence steps, not duplicates.

Can I polish an edge with it?

No. The Donkey pad is a face pad for blending and repairing a surface. Edge and bevel work is done with an edge polishing disc or a three-step edge pad system.
